About AP2020

Ap2020.org, Inc is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in San Diego, CA.

We began working with the public schools in San Diego County however based on need, we have expanded our program to schools throughout the United States assisting with homeless teens in Middle, Jr High, and High School.

In 2019 the San Diego Union Tribune published an article stating that there were approximately 23,000 homeless teens in San Diego County alone. We are estimating that there are at least 1.5 million homeless teens from the ages of 12 to 18 years of age in the United States today. We work directly with the Principal, Vice Principal and counselors that have been specially trained to work with homeless teens, they and Ap2020.org, Inc understand the needs of homeless teens in America.

AP2020's Mission Statement

The goal of Ap2020.org, Inc is to prevent teens from becoming part of the adult homeless population in America. We want every student to have the opportunity to graduate from High School and then enter a trade school or obtain a college education. Ap2020.org, Inc has training programs implemented to help students find employment either part or full time while going to school.

Unless we as a nation come together to address this hidden problem there will be a much greater problem in the future.

We need to act now!

We help in various ways; by mentoring and/or assuring that the student gets what they need to function at their best. Ap2020.org, Inc can provide students with things from a bus pass to a pair of shoes to allow them to participate in sports or a food gift card that can only be redeemed for food. We will also provide books or tools such as special calculators needed for their algebra or geometry class along with clothes, and underwear. We endeavor to provide all hygiene products that teens need to stay clean and refreshed including feminine products, soap, shampoo, and deodorant, the list goes on and on.

Understanding The Problem
What defines a homeless teen? Per Sandra Bishop, a Jr. High homeless teen Councilor in San Diego:
  • A teen who does not have a bed to call their own
  • A teen that is living on the streets
  • A teen that hops from couch to couch either at friends or relatives’ homes.
  • A teen that is living in their or their parent’s car
  • A teen that is living in motels with parents

How Can You Help?

These teens are not responsible for what brought them to their current situation. Most teens are willing to work hard for their future and break the homeless cycle.

We at Ap2020.org, Inc (adolescent project 2020) with your help can make this happen, nationally or internationally.

Making A Difference
According to the Department of Education, last year was a record HIGH for homeless kids in schools, up 4.7 percent from the previous year and over 10.4 in some areas. According to new data by the Department of Education, more than 1.5 million students in the United States in grades K–12 were homeless in the 2011–12 school year — a record high and chances are they are not in the places that you would expect, they are in your community!

Union Tribune reports approximately 23,000 homeless teens in San Diego County

Experts say that the numbers may even be higher than what you see here, due to irregular class attendance and changing addresses, homeless kids are difficult to track. The National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth says that two trends are responsible for these increasing numbers: a growing shortage of affordable rental housing and a simultaneous increase in severe poverty in the U.S.

Please Remember this, these are girls and boys between the ages of 12 and 18 going to junior high and high school. This is a very real and serious issue, one that If we do not do whatever we can to help these children in their plight will affect future generations.

Ap2020.org, Inc is addressing the situation as swiftly and proficiently as possible.
